Pakanaka Resort

Went well: The rooms were really beautiful. Cosy and clean rooms. They had hot water the entire stay which is usually an issue in some places. Their food was nice.

Improve: We were asked to pay $10 per person at the gate which is said to be non-refundable if we do not end up staying there or doing any day activities which I kind of found to be absurd. Good thing is, if you then use their facilities, the $10 goes towards the full amount to be paid. There were stories for almost every activity we tried ie quad biking - they had 1 quad bike and yet there were 4 of us waiting to use that same bike. The pricing also wasnt as clear as they said we'd pay $10 for a short ride and $20 for the long ride. Turns out the short ride is just 500m and the long ride is a km. We also faced challenges with canoeing where we tried to go ahead with the activity and got turned down being told that the people responsible had finished their shift. For a place that only allows guests to check in at 2pm, it is important that they communicate the activities that are doable on that specific day as well as upto what time these activities can be done to avoid guests wasting time.

Went well: Staff were friendly, the breakfast was really nice i enjoyed it. The environment and scenery is really beautiful.

Improve: Was really disappointed on the activities. 1.There was only one quad bike working, and there was 4 of us. I feel like that should have been communicated before taking us to the trail with one bike. It defeats the purpose of the group trip. If something is not available, best let people know. 2. There was also just one oar/paddle for the canoeing. On communication, let customers know that workers knock off at what time so people plan their activities with that in mind when they get there.

Went well: Lovely the area. Absolutely beautiful scenery, nice and peaceful really enjoyed the time there. The rooms were nice and spacious with great water pressure. Was shown around the villas as well, definitely worth a booking for 8+ people. Food was okay. Breakfast pulling most of the points.

Improve: Communication and overall service. We specifically called ahead asking about activities as we wanted to book with friends. We were told to come and that everything was going to be there and ready. Got there, did they not bring out 1 quad bike for 4 people with the expectation to take turns 😂😂. Absolute joke. Nothing was communicated about the others not working and seemed that’s what they offered. Then wanted to canoe. The staff had already gone home with the keys at just before 1700hrs. With everything is was as if they cared more about customers not there than the guest already present. Really need to do better with their service.
